Chater: You dare to call me that. I demand satisfaction! Septimus: Mrs Chater demanded satisfaction and now you are demanding satisfaction. I cannot spend my time day and night satisfying the demands of the Chater family.

About This Quote

In the play "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by William Shakespeare, this quote comes from a scene in which Titania, Queen of the Fairies, is trying to win Oberon's love. Titania has been a constant nag about his lack of passion, and she suggests that he should try to win his love by going to the forest and seeking a wife. Titania thinks that if he were to find a wife he would be more interested in her. Oberon rejects Titania's suggestion but promises to think about it.

In the meantime, Titania tells him that he should seek his wife by wandering through the forest at midnight. He says that he will do so because "I dare not refuse you, for you have been much offended." The quote is about choosing between being faithful to your word and being faithful to your feelings.
